Ingredients:
For the pasta:
• 200g (about 2 cups) pasta (penne, fusilli, or spaghetti)
• Water (for boiling)
• Salt (1 tsp)
For the red sauce:
• 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
• 4-5 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
• 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
• 2 large tomatoes (blanched and pureed, or use 1 cup canned tomato puree)
• 1 tbsp tomato ketchup (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
• 1 tsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)
• 1 tsp mixed Italian herbs or oregano
• Salt to taste
• Black pepper to taste
• 1-2 tbsp cream or cheese (optional for richness)
• Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Optional Add-ins:
• Diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives
• Grated mozzarella or cheese (for topping)

Boil the pasta:
• Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
